Academics

Elementary School

Elementary students studying math

Elementary academics at LTSA are hands-on, creative, and collaborative. In our makerspace (nicknamed "The Collaboratory"), students integrate learning across subjects and apply it to projects tied to a yearly phenomenon — whether that's exploring sustainable design, investigating natural systems, or understanding how communities work.

Spanish language instruction begins in kindergarten. Students gain an appreciation for other cultures and strengthen reading comprehension skills, among other cognitive benefits.

Every student has their own dedicated computing device, which they use to learn and apply skills such as block-based coding, research or 3d modeling. Digital citizenship lessons equip students to stay safe and engage respectfully.

Community & Culture

Our elementary school culture is intentionally influenced through dedicated social-emotional learning, in which students develop skills in self awareness, self management and social awareness, along with relationship skills and responsible decision-making.

Elementary students are mentored by older students through our “Big Buddy, Little Buddy” program.  Monthly activities and hand-made gift exchanges extend each student’s community beyond their classroom to include the entire school.
